1) There are about 20,000 different species of bee found all over the world. In the UK alone there are about 270 species, including honey bees. Theyโre responsible for pollinating 80% of UK wildflowers and they also pollinate important crops like apples, beans, squashes and almonds.
2) Climate change and intensive farming are contributing to the destruction of beesโ natural habitats and their numbers are plummeting across the world. If bees disappear, weโd have big problems producing enough food. They are more efficient pollinators than other animals. Studies have shown bee-pollinated foods can be bigger and healthier.
3) It is estimated that there are only 15,000 wild jaguars left on the planet, with their numbers roughly halved in the last 100 years, mostly due to poaching and deforestation.
Invest In A Slow Cooker.
You don’t have to use an oven or hob to cook. A slow cooker uses little more energy than a light bulb and because the food is cooked gently it loses little of its vitamins and flavour compared to normal cooking methods.
Steamers and pressure cookers are also excellent ways to conserve energy and preserve taste and goodness when you cook food.
