The Wisdom Trust

Mission Statement

The Wisdom Trust raises awareness about the important issues impacting the future of our planet – from poverty, to environmental and health issues.

We make donations to support the work of other charities, good causes and not-for-profit initiatives both in the UK and around the world, and work with others to promote friendship, goodwill and mutual understanding across all borders.

Join Us On A Journey To Wisdom

Here at The Wisdom Trust, our vision is to support charities and good causes with regular donations from our fund and to create a global learning community where every country and every community can use The Wisdom Trust website to share collective wisdom and knowledge about themes that support positive change for individuals, groups and the environment.

Through fostering an attitude of positive collaboration and friendship between organisations and individuals around the globe, we‘re confident in bringing positive change to those that suffer inequality and hardship.

If you share our vision, then you too can be part of our movement and help us to reach out and support people and organisations in your local community, as well as your own favourite causes.

We’d really appreciate it if you’d come with us on our Journey To Wisdom.  And to help you get started, we’ve suggested below just a few simple steps to begin your journey.

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with just a single step.” ……. Chinese proverb –  Lao Tzu (4th-6th Century BC).

Step 1: Get Yourself Registered.

1. Register On The Website.

If you want to join The Wisdom Trust and start making a difference in your own community and all over the world, the first step is to register on the website.

It’s quick, easy and completely free of charge for both individuals and organisations to register with The Wisdom Trust and all you’ll need is a valid email address (Organisations will need to provide a few details about themselves as well – organisations are bodies such as charities, good causes and any other not-for-profit initiatives, including corporate foundations and charity funds).

2. Votes, Credits & Grants Funds.

Individuals can join and then, as registered members, they’ll be able to vote to decide which of our registered organisations get a share of our quarterly Donations Fund. This fund is equal to 50% of our income over those three months and the more votes a charity gets over that period, the bigger share of the Donations Fund it will receive.

They’ll also be able to earn Credits by using the website and these will help their chosen charity or good cause get a share of our second and slightly smaller quarterly fund – the Credits Fund. This fund is equal to 35% of our income over the same three months and the more Credits accumulated by a charity or good cause and all its supporters over that period, the bigger share of the Credits Fund it will be allocated.

For individual members, the Credits they earn will also all add a little bit extra to their own personal Wisdom Trust Grant fund which they’ll be able to use to help with the costs of environmental projects at home or in the office or to help cover the costs of higher education – as well as many other great benefits too.

3. Complete Your Profile.

Once you’re registered, complete your profile – add a photo and a cover picture which gives a clue to your interests and passions, choose a nickname/username and add your social media contact details too, if you wish. And then create a group about one of your main hobbies or interests.

4. Charities & Good Causes.

Charities, good causes and all other not-for-profit initiatives (including corporate charity foundations and funds) can join as organisational members. They’ll then be eligible for regular donations from The Wisdom Trust as described above and benefit from a host of other useful and valuable free support as well.

Organisations should complete their profile by adding the name of the charity or good cause in the two nickname fields and uploading the charity logo to the profile picture and a cover picture which illustrates the main objectives of the organisation. Include details of your website, contact information and social media pages. Create a group for the charity or good cause where you can upload information and photos of your current campaigns, causes, activities and upcoming events, and host a forum about your work.

Step 2: Log In Every Day

1. Logging In And Earning Credits.

When you log in each day, you’ll be awarded Wisdom Trust Credits and then you’ll be able to engage in dozens of other ways to earn even more Credits. And every Credit you accumulate will help you earn more votes to help your favourite cause get a bigger share of the quarterly Donations Fund, and the Credits themselves will mean that your nominated cause will get a bigger share of the quarterly Credits Fund.

Not forgetting of course that every Credit you earn will add a little bit extra to your personal Wisdom Trust Grant Fund. And the more Credits you get, the higher you’ll see yourself on the Wisdom Trust Leader Board.

2. Vote To Help Your Favourite Cause.

You’ll be able to vote to help choose which charities and good causes get a share of our quarterly Donations Fund. As a member, you can vote once every day when you log in, and earn extra votes every time you clock up 10 Credits. As a member, you’ll also be able to nominate new charities and good causes to join us – simply send them an email with a link to the website and ask them to put your Wisdom Trust username on the registration form to earn both them and you a bonus of 25 Credits.

3. Get Involved In The Wisdom Trust Community.

Also, when you log in, you’ll be able to start a group about a subject which interests you and host discussions and a forum within your group, inviting other members to join. You’ll earn Credits for starting the group and for everything else that you submit, plus you’ll earn more Credits when others join your group and submit items of their own.

Or you can join other groups and contribute items to them, which will also earn you Credits.

As a starting point, we strongly recommend you join the group ‘Sharing Wisdom‘ where you’ll find lots of facts (mainly about poverty, environment and health issues), tips (eco tips, health tips and thrifty tips), together with a selection of interesting quotations. You can comment on anything you read or add facts, tips and quotations of your own, all of which will earn your more Credits. And remember, the more Credits you get, the higher you’ll see yourself on the Wisdom Trust Leader Board.

4. Check Out Our Marketplace and Earn More Credits.

Whenever you log in, you’ll be able to use our search engine for all your normal internet searches, take advantage of some great offers and special deals through our Market Place and redirect any of your normal online shopping through there too. You’ll earn one Credit for every £1 you spend – all at no extra cost to yourself. Our Market Place has links to more than 5,000 popular shops and stores so you’ll always be able to find the things you want.

5. Spread The Word – Invite Your Friends, Family And Colleagues.

Finally, when you log in, you’ll be able to invite your friends, family and colleagues to become members too so they can vote for their favourite causes and build their own personal Wisdom Trust Grant Funds. Ask them to put your username on the form when they register so both you and they will benefit from 25 bonus Credits. And when your friends get any Credits thereafter, so do you – in fact, you’ll get 100 bonus Credits every time they clock up 250 Credits of their own.

6. Charities & Good Causes.

Charities and good causes should log in every day to keep the information on their groups up to date with any latest news or pictures.

You should spread the word far and wide, firstly by inviting all your friends, staff, supporters and families to register so they can vote for you and earn Credits to ensure you get as large a donation as possible from our two quarterly funds. Ask them to put your charity name down on the registration form so both they and you will earn a bonus of 25 Credits. And if we know other members are your supporters, every time they clock up 250 Credits (whether that’s through engaging on the site, shopping online or even inviting their own friends and family), we’ll award you a bonus of 100 Credits which will help you get a bigger share of the quarterly Credits Fund.

And if you invite other charities and good causes to join us, then as long as they also note your charity down on the registration form (where it asks how they heard about The Wisdom Trust) then both they and you will earn a bonus of 25 Credits. But even better than that, every time they’re awarded a donation from our Credits Fund, your cause will automatically get 40% of the amount donated to them – for ever!!

Step 3: Vote For Your Favourite Cause

1. You – Our Members – Decide.

You and all our other members help decide which charities and good causes get a share of our quarterly Donations Fund by voting online. And, if you wish, to ensure your favourite cause gets as many votes as possible, you can vote every day over each three month donations window.

2. How To Get Extra Votes.

Each day, when you log in, you’ll be allocated one vote. But you can earn extra votes every time you clock up 10 Credits elsewhere in the website (e.g. on our community, by inviting friends and family to join us or by shopping online via our Marketplace where you’ll get one Credit for every £1 you spend).

3. Which Charities Get The Donations?

At the end of each three month donations window, we divide up the Donations Fund (equal to half of all the income of The Wisdom Trust over that period) in direct ratio to the number of votes accumulated by each cause over that quarter.

So a charity with 6% of the votes over a three month donations window will be awarded 6% of the Donations Fund that quarter. Or a cause with 2.4% of the votes will get 2.4% of the Donations Fund.

Each and every charity or good cause which receives even just one vote will be allocated something from our Donations Fund.

4. Spread The Word And Get More People Voting For Your Favourite Cause.

Why not invite all your friends, family and colleagues who support the same causes as you (or any other causes) to join us so they can vote for them too. And if they mention your username on the registration form when they sign up, both they and you will get a bonus 25 Credits (meaning another 2 votes straight away). And remember, every vote helps your favourite cause get a bigger donation at the end of the quarter.

Step 4: Learning And Sharing Knowledge & Wisdom

1. The Library Of Wisdom

We will provide an ever-growing library of facts, statistics, information, reviews, tips, humour, quotations, questions and all sorts of other useful and interesting material on our website.

This comprehensive resource, most of which will be submitted by our members and registered charities, is designed to help you increase your own knowledge about the important issues affecting the future of our planet – especially poverty, environment, healthcare and world peace – as well as about all sorts of other interesting subjects too.

And everything you do will earn you Credits which divert more funds to your favourite causes as well as adding value to your personal Wisdom Trust Grant Fund.

2. A Growing Educational Resource.

As part of our mission to help our members increase their knowledge and wisdom, we will continue to add new, interesting and exciting educational programmes on our website. All of these will earn members Credits to help their favourite cause and build up their own personal Wisdom Trust Grant Fund.

3. Get Involved In The Community.

To kick things off, we recommend that members use our community section to join any groups that interest them and enjoy all the learning opportunities they provide. We recommend that you join the group ‘Sharing Wisdom‘ where you can view interesting facts, tips and quotations – and even submit some of your own.

Members can comment on and add to any discussions they find in any groups on the community or even start their own groups about subjects that interest them. And everything they do will earn them even more Credits. They’ll even earn Credits when other members join their groups or comment on, add to or share any of their discussions.

It’s so easy!! Get involved today. And remember, every Credit you earn adds value to the donation set aside for your favourite cause as well as increasing the size of your own Wisdom Trust Grant Fund. And not forgetting that the more Credits you get, the higher you’ll be placed in the Wisdom Trust Leader Board.

Step 5: Be Amazing When You Shop Online

1. Over Five Thousand Shops & Stores – Be Amazing When You Shop Online

Our Market Place has links to over 5,000 shops and stores where you can shop online, exactly as you might have done anyway, but by diverting your purchase through The Wisdom Trust you’ll earn 1 Credit for every £1 you spend.

All those extra Credits will help support not only your own favourite cause but thousands of other great charities and good causes all over the world. And not forgetting that every Credit will add additional value to your own personal Wisdom Trust Grant fund – and promote you up the Wisdom Trust Leader Board.

Isn’t That Amazing?

2. Special Discounts and Voucher Codes.

Every day we’ll offer a range of special deals and voucher codes from a range of stores. So check in on the Market Place every day to see what’s new.

3. How Does It Work?

As we develop the Market Place, more and more shops and stores will be added from and ever-increasing number of countries. Links to all these shops will appear on the Market Place as we add them – just click on the link to be taken to that particular store’s website, where you’ll make the purchase as you would have done normally, but they’ll let us know and pay us a small commission.

To claim your Credits, just complete the simple form at the bottom of the Market Place page. We’ll validate you claim against the reports from our shopping partners and add your Credits to your account.

Many of our shopping partners are linked to through our various shopping portals such as EasyFundraising and Give As You Live. Just click through from Market Place to visit the homepage of the portals, register as a supporter of The Wisdom Trust and search for the shop you’re interested in. Make your purchase as normal and then fill in the claim form at the bottom of the Market Place page to get your Credits.

4. Amazon

If you wish to shop at Amazon, just click on one of the links to Amazon on the Market Place page (or elsewhere in the website), log in and shop as usual and then use the claim form at the bottom of the Market Place page to get your Credits.

5. Grocery Shopping

On the Give As You Live shopping portal, you can buy gift cards and e cards for a number of UK supermarkets. These can be either physical cards with a given value or an e-card, also with a given value. These will allow you to help The Wisdom Trust and all our partner charities and earn Credits to help your own favourite cause (and build your Wisdom Trust Grant Fund) from your regular weekly shopping. Imagine that! Simple!!

Step 6: Spread The Word

1. Tell Your Friends, Family & Colleagues.

You probably have any number of friends, family and colleagues who care about the same causes as you, or who support other equally-worthwhile causes as well.

Inviting them to join us means we can help them support their favourite charities too. And if they mention your username on the registration form when they sign-up, they and you will get a bonus 25 Credits.

There’s a form on the website to invite your friends or you can just send them an email in the usual way and include the link to The Wisdom Trust and a note of your username.

2. Some Friends May Benefit From A Wisdom Trust Grant.

You may also know someone who could benefit from one of our Wisdom Trust Grants (including Eco Grants for energy-saving projects, Education Grants for students and Social Grants for families and the elderly).

Inviting friends, family and colleagues to join us is yet another great way to earn Credits. Not only will we award you and your friends 25 Credits each when they sign up and mention your username on the registration form, but we’ll also award you 100 Bonus Credits every time they clock up 250 Credits of their own – for ever!

3. Charities & Good Causes.

There are two main ways that charities and good causes can get donations from The Wisdom Trust – from the quarterly Donations Fund and from the quarterly Credits Fund.

The Donations Fund is allocated to all our charities and good causes based on how many votes they get in each three month donations window. And surely the best and most reliable people to vote for a charity are its own staff, supporters and friends.

The Credits Fund is allocated to all our charities and good causes based one how many Credits they and their supporters can accumulate during each three month donations window.

So the clear message for all charities and good causes who register on The Wisdom Trust website, is to invite all their staff, supporters, friends and families to join The Wisdom Trust, vote every day and accumulate as many Credits as possible.

Apart from gaining all those extra votes, when a charity invites all their staff, supporters, friends and family to join The Wisdom Trust, the charity itself will earn lots of extra Credits, which will help ensure a bigger donation from the quarterly Credits Fund. For not only will we award the charity and their supporters 25 Credits each when they sign up and mention the charity’s name on the registration form, but we’ll also award the charity 100 Bonus Credits every time their supporters clock up 250 Credits of their own – for ever!

And if a charity invites other charities and good causes to join us, then as long as they also note the first charity down on the registration form (where it asks how they heard about The Wisdom Trust) then both charities will earn a bonus of 25 Credits. But even better than that, every time the new charity is awarded a donation from our Credits Fund, the first charity will automatically get 40% of the amount donated to them – also for ever!!

4. Companies & Other Commercial Organisations.

Companies and other commercial organisations who have registered with us to support their charitable foundation or a charity fund in their name can invite all their customers and even their suppliers to sign-up and vote for their foundation or fund.

And as with charities, apart from gaining all those extra votes, when a company or commercial organisation invites all their staff, friends, family, customers and suppliers to join The Wisdom Trust, the foundation or fund itself will earn lots of extra Credits, which will help ensure a bigger donation from the quarterly Credits Fund. For not only will we award the foundation or fund and their new supporters 25 Credits each when they sign up and mention the company or commercial organisation’s name on the registration form, but we’ll also award the foundation or fund 100 Bonus Credits every time their new supporters clock up 250 Credits of their own – for ever!

And if a company or commercial organisation invites other charities and good causes or companies and commercial organisations to join us, then as long as they also note the first company’s name down on the registration form (where it asks how they heard about The Wisdom Trust) then both organisations will earn a bonus of 25 Credits. But even better than that, every time the new organisation is awarded a donation from our Credits Fund, the first organisation will automatically get 40% of the amount donated to them – also for ever!!

Step 7: Grow And Develop With Achievements Or Ranks

1. Wisdom Achievements.

As you become more active within The Wisdom Trust, you’ll be awarded Wisdom Achievements. This could be for content contributions in forums, groups, articles, learning or promoting The Wisdom Trust to new members.

Essentially the more involved a member is, the more Wisdom Achievements they will collect. These will in turn earn you more Credits and possibly more votes too – which will both add value to your personal Wisdom Trust Grant Fund as well as increasing the value of the funds set aside for your favourite cause.

2. Wisdom Ranks.

Members who are awarded Wisdom Achievements in recognition of their overall contribution, will, in turn, be awarded Ranks. These will be assessed in line with their Achievements, Credits, overall contribution and time as an active member. There are three types of Rank. Gold, Silver and Bronze awarded for contribution across a number of areas within the sites.

There is no limit to how far you can go within The Wisdom Trust. And everything you do help your favourite cause as well as contributing more value to your personal Wisdom Grant Fund.
